QWETCH X MOUNTAIN RIDERS ARE COMMITTED TO SUSTAINABLE MOUNTAINS!

MEETING THE MOUNTAIN RIDERS ASSOCIATION.

WHAT ARE MOUNTAIN RIDERS?

Mountain Riders is an educational association for ecological transition in the mountains founded in 2001. It is by encouraging children and young people to become drivers of change, by inviting practitioners to engage in a responsible approach, by supporting the actors tourism, by involving citizens and elected officials that we act to preserve a mountain as essential as it is fragile! In our actions, we strive every day to embody the change we want to see in the world.

WHAT ARE YOUR MAIN ACTIONS?

With young people, we carry out nature outings, itinerant stays, activities, fun workshops and interventions adapted to school and extra-curricular programs throughout the year.

Supported by our partners, we coordinate each year this campaign to raise awareness and encourage people to take action to clean up and preserve our mountains from waste. In 2019, 25 tons of waste were collected during 63 collections involving more than 5,000 volunteers!

Finally, so that the transition is concrete and takes shape in the mountain territories, we work on a daily basis both to raise awareness among holidaymakers and local practitioners (stands, workshops, collection day) but also to support the territories and socio- professionals in a sustainable development approach (Educ'Tour, Round Table, etc.).

We also support the territories in the application process and the “Flocon Vert” label. This label and this approach promote tourist destinations with a cutting-edge sustainable development policy and allow everyone to have a clear vision of exemplary destinations.

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF PARTNERSHIP WITH QWETCH?

Plastic water bottles are one of the main items of waste that we find in resorts in the spring, after the snow has melted. The partnership with Qwetch is symbolic because it also makes it possible to promote reusability and to promote approaches that are part of a circular economy logic. Indeed, the best waste remains the one that we do not produce! So replace your plastic water bottles with water bottles for your ski outings or mountain hikes!

THE WINTER HOLIDAYS ARE COMING, A TIP FOR SUSTAINABLE ACTION ON THE MOUNTAIN?

Nearly 2/3 of the emissions generated by a mountain destination come from the transport of tourists: these famous crossovers on the road or these planes to the metropolises of the peaks.

Whether you come from the other end of France or whether you are in the valley, the first tip is therefore to change the way we get to the resort this winter: train, carpooling, valley lifts... Many ways now exist to come to his playground differently.

Finally, it's also important to make sure you haven't left anything behind: under the snow, cigarette butts and packaging seem to disappear, but they reappear in the spring! They can have a significant impact on water pollution or the fauna and flora present on site.

DISCOVER THE GLACIER INSULATED BOTTLE, A QWETCH SOLIDARITY PRODUCT

A bottle dressed in a photograph by JC Pieri.

Qwetch worked with talented photographer JC Pieri to create the Glacier bottle , a 500 ml insulated bottle with a unique look and mattifying appearance of chilling beauty!

JC Pieri is a self-taught photographer and director sensitive to wide open spaces and nature. Originally from Marseille, this 29-year-old artist immortalizes his travels in the most beautiful way (more than 50 countries visited on his counter!): by photographing or filming them.

It was in September 2018 that he traveled to the Vatnajökull glacier in Iceland and brought back this precious photographic memory. “Glaciers are one of the elements of nature that fascinate me the most! says the photographer. “This ephemeral side and these different shades of blue due to the more or less significant presence of oxygen are magical: they remind us of the extent to which these landscapes are in danger and that they must be preserved. »

More than just a bottle!

For each insulated bottle Glacier purchased, 2€ are donated directly to the association Mountain Riders in order to make the youngest aware of sustainable development, to set up waste collection days in the French massifs and to preserve biodiversity in the mountains. So, you too, commit to a sustainable mountain and replace your plastic water bottles with water bottles or insulated bottles, the best companions for your ski outings or mountain hikes!
