Qwetch celebrates the ocean

Every year, 20 billion tonnes of plastic waste end up in the oceans. We are all responsible and everyone needs to fight against marine pollution. Imagine if each could collect a fragment of plastic waste when out at sea, a river, or a lake.

An ocean of life

An ocean of life

With this in mind, Qwetch created its Ocean collection with the eco-citizen project “Un océan de vie” meaning an Ocean of Life, which promotes awareness around the preservation and management of marine environments.

Two sponsored projects:

Project n°1: the Maubydick project.

The Maubydick project aims to protect sperm whales in the western Indian ocean by identifying and creating identity cards on different individuals and evaluating the population dynamic.

Project n°2: an educational programme to protect sea and oceans.

Project n°2: an educational programme to protect sea and oceans.

An educational awareness programme for elementary classes on protecting the sea and the oceans. The association meets with students from elementary and secondary classes in order to bring awareness to the beauty and fragility of the marine environment. These sessions are based on the marine world knowledge, its living animals and food chain.

Children have little to no preconceived ideas and are extremely sensitive about speeches on environmental protection. They are our best ambassadors, especially when reaching out to their relatives and community, to perpetuate virtuous behaviours for sea and ocean preservation.

Meet René Heuzey, underwater filmmaker, passionate about the oceans and its inhabitants.
