Let’s put our rubbish bins on a diet!
According to the ADEME (the French Agency of the Environment and the Control of Energy), a French person produces around 580 kg of household waste each year. Today, more than 3/4 of the waste found in our household waste bins doesn’t need to be there: it could be reused by properly sorting or composting it. And better yet, it could not exist at all! As a little reminder, the best waste is the one that does not even exist!

At home or on the go, in the office or at school, every waste counts. Here’s a tip to reduce its impact: try to cook at home and get good containers to carry your food around. Here’s more on how to do so!

REDUCING OUR WASTE BY COOKING MORE.
REDUCING OUR WASTE BY COOKING MORE.
Many of our waste comes from food packaging: yoghurt pots, mayonnaise jars, plastic bottles for pre-made salad dressing, etc. To reduce rubbish – and the impact on the planet – why not cook all this at home? With good recipes and a little elbow grease, you will quickly see that it is much better, much healthier, and much less polluting!

Cooking at home also avoids wasting food, expired sell-by dates, and clutter in your fridge. For small condiments such as salad dressing, ketchup or mayonnaise, prepare them in small quantities, when you need them, to enjoy the ingredients’ freshness and all their nutrients. Many foods can now be bought in bulk, which allows you to avoid throwing disposable packaging away. Remember to always take shopping bags, bulk bags or jars when you go shopping. It’s just a matter of habit!

ZERO WASTE LUNCH BREAK: EAT-IN AND TAKE AWAY!

Even on the move, in the office or at school, the best waste is the one you don’t generate! Ready meals or salads are usually served in disposable single-use packaging that ends up in the bin seconds after you have used them. For your lunch breaks, many solutions exist:
› Prepare tasty food and keep it at the right temperature.
A slice of quiche, a portion of risotto or some pesto pasta, is just the right portion to fill up on energy at lunchtime. Take it with you in your bento! If you choose an insulated lunchbox, your food can be kept at the right temperature while you patiently wait for your lunch break.
› Ok for take-outs but only if you are well equipped!
Didn’t have time to cook last night? A quick outing to the Food Truck at noon is a must. But don’t go empty-handed! Remember to take your lunchbox, cutlery, water bottle, and even your napkin for a well-deserved zero waste break. Bear in mind that, from now on, all restaurants must accept lunchboxes brought by customers and serve the food in them if requested. Sometimes, some restaurants even offer discounts, so go for it!
FOR EVERY MEAL, QWETCH HAS A ZERO WASTE SOLUTION.

TAKEAWAY? OPT FOR THE FOOD CONTAINER.
Our Food Container, made in France, has been designed to avoid any waste related to takeaway food. You should know that in 2019, over 200 million meals were delivered, generating more than 600 million single-use packaging ending up directly in the bin (Source: French Ministry of Ecological Transition).
With its unique and fast closing system, the Food Container can hold a Sunday lunch and its sauce without leaking, burger and chips, or a fresh and gourmet bò bún. Due to its single wall made out of recycled French stainless steel, it isn’t insulated. On the other hand, this lunchbox is light and fits easily into any backpack or handbag.

QWETCH CHOOSES SAFE MATERIALS

QWETCH CHOOSES SAFE MATERIALS
To eat, drink, and infuse better on a daily basis, Qwetch offers sustainable products designed with safe materials. One of our key materials is stainless steel. It does not change the organoleptic properties (colour, smell, flavour) of food, remains neutral whatever the food temperature, is easy to clean, resists shocks and corrosion, and lasts forever.
After a couple of years, a plastic meal box, a “Tupperware” or an aluminium lunchbox needs to be changed because these materials, and especially plastic, are harmful. They contaminate food and beverages by releasing microelements and endocrine disruptors when they are used in the microwave. Opting for stainless steel or glass means taking care of your health! Our products are also tested to meet European and French food contact standards as well as the requirements of the European REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals). These regulations aim at protecting us from harmful chemicals in consumer goods.
