Thermo mug
Want to give yourself a moment of relaxation in a busy day? In the office, in transport, in the open air… this container for hot or cold drinks bears the same name as a large cup with a handle. However, the concept of the insulated mug is somewhat different, halfway between the reusable cup, the thermos and the water bottle. Individual, practical, hermetic and transportable, it accompanies you in all the adventures of everyday life and bends to all your desires.

An ecological and economical container
What is a thermal mug?
It is a cylindrical container reminiscent of the disposable cups for hot drinks used by catering professionals. But insulated mugs, also called travel mug or tumbler, are reusable and designed using vacuum insulation technology. This double wall gives the mug heat-insulating properties that keep liquids hot or cold. This design also avoids getting burned by holding a cup filled with a very hot drink.
The difference between a mug and an insulated bottle lies in the shape and the cap. Reusable bottles, more intended to carry still, filtered or flavored water, generally have a screw cap when insulated mugs are equipped with a spout. Both are complementary and are part of the large family of eco-friendly products.
Why choose an insulated mug?
Choosing a reusable insulated mug on a daily basis helps limit plastic waste and pollution from single-use cups. In the office, getting tea or coffee from the machine is one of the most common gestures. However, by the repetition over the days there is nothing trivial about it.
In addition to the ecological dimension, switching to a reusable mug also has a financial impact. Tea, coffee, fruit juice, smoothie… having your own transportable container offers the possibility of enjoying hot or cold drinks prepared at home before leaving. The key: savings and more taste!
How to choose your insulated mug?
Preferred material
There are different types of reusable cups. Plastic mugs are lightweight and inexpensive. But their lifespan and ability to maintain temperature are very limited. They are particularly sensitive to the tannin contained in tea and coffee.
The glass mugs bring an elegant and design touch. Free of any toxicity and durable, they are more environmentally friendly and healthier than plastic versions. However, they are not designed for travel.
The stainless steel insulated mugs have the advantages of the two previous models without their disadvantages. They are resistant and compatible with nomadic use. High food-grade stainless steel is a healthy, durable and BPA-free material. The insulated double wall offers an autonomy of 6 hours for hot drinks and up to 12 hours for cold drinks.
For what type of use?
Although it is a versatile accessory and adaptable to many situations, it is necessary to define what particular use will be reserved for it in order to choose it well. Indeed, there are different isothermal tumblers.
Do you need a mug to leave on a corner of the desk, to go to the break room and keep your drink hot longer? Or rather a travel mug to follow you on your daily trips, in the cup holder of the car, in a backpack pocket, on public transport, during long train journeys?
Capacity
This is an important criterion when choosing a mug size. To optimize the temperature holding capacity, an insulated container should always be filled to the maximum.
- The medium capacity mugs, between 240 and 300 ml, are perfect for a hot drink during the mid-day break.
- The large mugs can hold up to 500ml, so you can take your favorite drink with you on a long drive or outing.
Are the insulated mugs leak proof?
It is the lid of the insulated mug that will determine its level of sealing. Some lids have a drinking slot that always stays open. They are therefore not suitable for nomadic use.
Other models have an ergonomic cap that guarantees easy opening with a single push, but also a completely hermetic closure with an anti-leakage system ensured by a silicone seal present on the neck. The travel mug can then be transported in a bag, preferably vertically, without letting a single drop escape.
